        Landfills are the ultimate destination for urban waste and a natural factory for methane gas. The landfill gas produced by the decomposition of garbage under anaerobic conditions is mainly composed of methane (40% -60%) and carbon dioxide, which is a combustible gas with high calorific value.         The working principle of biogas generator set is similar to that of general gas generator set, but there are differences in system configuration due to the characteristics of biogas fuel (methane content fluctuation, sulfur and moisture content, unstable calorific value). The complete biogas power generation system includes four modules: gas collection system, pretreatment system, generator set, and waste heat utilization system. The gas collection system extracts biogas generated from the landfill site through a network of vertical and horizontal wells. The pre-treatment system purifies the crude biogas to meet the quality requirements of the generator set through processes such as desulfurization, dehydration, and dust removal. The generator set converts purified biogas into electrical energy through an internal combustion engine or gas turbine. The waste heat utilization system recovers the heat generated during the power generation process and uses it for heating or process heating.

        The technical core of biogas generator set lies in adapting to the fluctuations of biogas components. The methane content of landfill biogas varies with factors such as garbage composition, seasonal temperature, and landfill age, with a fluctuation range of up to 30% -70%. Advanced units automatically control the air-fuel ratio by monitoring methane concentration and oxygen content in real-time, ensuring efficient and stable combustion under different biogas conditions. In terms of emission control, the unit is equipped with denitrification devices to effectively reduce pollutant emissions.

        In terms of engineering practice, biogas power generation has achieved significant results in many places. The Xiaohongmen Reclaimed Water Plant Biogas Power Generation Project adopts four 1200kW units with a total installed capacity of 4.8MW. Beijing Drainage Group converts the biogas resources generated by anaerobic digestion into self powered and waste heat resources in the plant area through this project, achieving green and low-carbon industrialization transformation. From landfills to sewage treatment plants, from livestock farms to industrial organic wastewater treatment facilities, biogas generators are converting methane emissions into clean electricity, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and creating tangible economic value.
